Festival Days at the London Buddhist Centre

Festival days celebrate the riches of the Buddhist tradition, usually falling on full moon days. At the London Buddhist Centre we have five festivals a year, four of which are common to the whole Buddhist world. Dates for 2023 as follows:

Parinirvana Day | 12th February. Marks the death and final liberation of the Buddha.

Buddha Day (Wesak) | 7th May 2023. Celebrating the full enlightenment of Siddhartha under the Bodhi Tree, the attainment of Buddhahood.

Dharma Day | 16th July 2023. Celebrating the first teaching of the Buddha, known as the Turning of the Wheel of the Dhamma, which was given on the full moon day in July.

Padmasambhava Day | 24th September 2023. Recalling the semi-legendary figure of Padmasambhava, known by some as the second Buddha, who brought Buddhism to Tibet.

Sangha Day | 19th November 2023. Celebrating the Sangha - the Buddhist community, the spirit of friendship and living communication of the Dharma down through the ages and present now.

Full Moon Pujas

These are held at the Buddhist Centre after the evening class.
