Course Description

‍

The spiritual path has great treasures for you to find and key thresholds to navigate. This course will help you to recognise pivotal points on the spiritual journey and reveal powerful tools that will support you to sustain initial enthusiasm, and to develop the strength and awareness needed to navigate challenges effectively and discover the treasures that lie within.

Over four weeks, you will be immersed in the Buddha's archetypal story of the return journey, which shows us the stages involved in our life's most important journey: the return to our true self.

Each week, the story will unfold with key teachings explored using the powerful tools of music, mantra and symbol.

‍

Structure of the Course

Week 1

Reconnection

We start by acknowledging the state of separation and the different ways it might express itself in our lives. We will identify the features that keep us separate and what is needed to reconnect and engage with the spiritual path with purpose. In this first week we will unveil a powerful support to help you with this process of reconnection, however far you feel you might be from your goal.

Week 2

Lighten the Load

After the initial excitement of finding a path or a teaching that works, we can often meet resistance, or simply begin to realise that transformation requires effort. This second stage focuses on ways to meet resistance positively and with confidence. Through a powerful mantra and symbol we will deepen our understanding of ways to ‘lighten the load’, and explore how tools of purification help us access more energy and clarity to keep moving forward.

Week 3

Integration and Manifestation

A full Dharma life means understanding more of our conditioning and freeing ourselves from that which limits us or causes suffering. This week we explore how to create a life that inspires us and is beneficial to self and others, even while we are very much still in the process of transformation. We will identify key elements that support integration and help us manifest a life that is inspiring and uplifting.

Week 4

Realisation and the Return

In the final week we explore the specific elements of realisation, or the fruits of the path. We will invite in both the mysterious and magical elements of the goal of Enlightenment, while also showing how spiritual fulfilment is very human and connecting. We complete the myth of the Return Journey and bring a liberating and wise perspective to the beginning and next stages of our journey.

Is this course for me?

The course is presented in a way that is accessible to all – no prior experience of meditation or Buddhism is necessary. It would also be ideal for those who have some familiarity with Buddhist practice, have been coming along to the LBC for some time and would like to gain a deeper perspective on working with the mind.

So, this course is for anyone interested in taking up the quest for growth and meaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get the most from the course?

Here are some top tips for taking part:
‍
Come every week – whether you feel like it or not. If you look for motivation before you do something, you reverse your motivation; mostly you only want to do something when you’re actually doing it.
‍
Come early – so you can lie down in the shrine room and have a nap, you probably need it and you’ll get more from the class if you do.
‍
Do your ‘home practice’ every day – then each week you’ll be in a small group to check in about how that went.

What if I can’t make every session?

Do sign-up even if you know you can’t make every session, as you will be able to catch-up from the weekly emails.

If you are going to miss a class – email the home group leader so we know and can let others know. And do come back the following week. Don’t feel guilty for not having attended, just come back and start again.

How to take part if I bought the online element?

You will receive a welcome email with a zoom link and all the details.
