Recovery

Eight Step Recovery is a recovery programme using the Buddha's teachings to find freedom from addiction, negative mental states or compulsive behaviours. Cofounded by Dr Valerie (Vimalasara) Mason-John and Dr Paramabandhu Groves, it offers practical mindfulness tools for real and lasting change.

At the LBC we run a weekly men's Eight-Step Group, as well as 12-Step and Buddhism Days, which explore how Buddhist practice can support recovery. We also offer residential Recovery Retreats at Vajrasana, providing a deeper space to practise together.

Many people who come to Recovery events also take part in the wider life of the Centre – including meditation classes, courses and retreats – finding a community that supports their path of transformation.

Gender Diverse Sangha Retreat

Beyond the binary

This retreat will be led by a team of gender diverse order members. It is open to those that are mitras and order members as well as those who are thinking of becoming mitras (by invite).
We will explore practising the dharma together as gender diverse people. People who identify as trans, non-binary, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, agender, intersex and gender diverse are all welcome.
