All authentic Buddhist practices and teachings stem from the Buddha’s transcendental attainment under the Bodhi tree in northern India two and a half thousand years ago. This tradition has been carried down to us via an unbroken chain of teachers and disciples, and remains the key to unlocking the deepest truth of our human existence.
Buddha Day is especially important for the LBC this year, as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the building of Vajrasana. The retreat centre was conceived around the image of the Buddha in earth-touching mudra at the ‘diamond seat’, or ‘Vajrasana’ – the mythic central point of the universe. So it’s fitting for us to enact our Buddha Day celebration around that central image.
