Meditation

Meditation is the cultivation of beneficial, spacious and creative states of heart and mind. It is also a means to self-knowledge, embodying values, greater awareness of others and the natural world, well being and wisdom.

The two main practices we teach are the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana (cultivation of loving kindness), both practised widely across the Buddhist world throughout the ages. Like all such practices, they help us access our natural human potential, both for our own benefit and for others.

The London Buddhist Centre has offered practical and clear meditation tuition since 1978, to hundreds of thousands of people. While many people nowadays get their first taste of meditation online or from an App, the best way to learn is directly from a teacher, and with others.

Anyone can learn, Buddhist or not, and our classes are open to all. Newcomers are taught from scratch and for those already familiar with meditation, there are courses and classes designed to assist a regular practice and greater depth.
